Trip Summary

On this trip we traveled from Los Angeles, and would head as far east as Washington DC. We traveled through and stayed in several states. Including 2 nights in San Antonio, 3 nights in New Orleans, 2 nights in Washington DC and 2 nights in Nashville. This would be our last road-trip with Chibi before she passed away the following year.

Day 1

We left Los Angeles around 5am as we typically do for our first day of road-trip travel. Our end destination for the day would be El Paso, Texas which is about a 12-13 hour drive from LA, not counting any stops. However, we always stop every few hours for bathroom breaks for ourselves and Chibi.

Roughly about 6 hours into the trip, we stop for lunch in Tucson, Arizona. We had heard about a really good hot-dog from many YouTube content creators and Travel enthusiasts about a food stand called, El Sinaloense that serves up amazing Hot Dogs, so we had to try it. I’m glad to say it met and even exceeded expectations. We grabbed some more food from a Tucson Establishment called Eegee’s known for it’s frozen fruit drinks and made our way out of town.

Before crossing into New Mexico, we stopped at a small shop called Dwaynes really Good Fresh Jerky. And I’m happy to report, the jerky is really good. I’d recommend a stop there if you are passing through.

Finally we arrived in El Paso in the evening. We were all exhausted from our first day of Travel, including Chibi, though she slept most of the drive .

Day 2

We started the morning with a nice walk in downtown El Paso and grabbed some coffee from a local cafe. We learned that from 1880s to 1965 there were actual live alligators that lived in this park. They were not native to this area but were brought in as an attraction. Sadly due to abuse concerns from locals, they were eventually removed and placed in a zoo.

This day would have us travel from El Paso, through the heart of Texas and into San Antonio, where we would spend 2 nights. The stretch of Interstate 10 from between these two cities is quite long and boring. The one interesting is that you can see the transition from dessert to grasslands and it is quite
